Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented senior Analyst or Associate (level commensurate with experience) to support the New Zealand Investment Banking team in the delivery of high quality advice and transaction outcomes for our clients.

You will report to the Managing Director, Head of ECM NZ and collaborate with other members of the investment banking team, as well as clients and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to inform valuation, strategic decision-making, and transaction-rated advice.
  • Assist on a range of M&A and capital markets transactions, as well as strategic and valuation advisory assignments.
  • Perform various valuation methods, including comparable companies analysis, precedent transactions, Discounted Cash Flow, and Leveraged Buyout analysis.
  • Prepare and review materials relevant to advisory and transaction assignments, including Information Memoranda, Investor Presentations, and Board Reports.
  • Conduct thorough independent research on industries and companies to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Develop relationships with clients through active involvement in transactions and advisory assignments.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to conduct due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including market analysis and risk assessment.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

About You

You will be a competent, confident individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment. You will be interacting extensively with colleagues and clients so strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will have strong attention to detail and the ability to organise and manage multiple work assignments, with frequent priority changes.

In addition, you have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Relevant experiences in investment banking, corporate law, corporate advisory, or Big 4 corporate finance.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modelling and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of valuation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
