Job Description

Key Responsibilities

You will be closely involved in live investment banking projects, gaining unparalleled insight into high value transactions for both New Zealand and international clients.  

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) financial modelling and analysis, company research, presentations and reports. You will work across a range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and other strategic and corporate finance advisory.

Recent examples of our investment banking team’s work include:

  • Joint transaction adviser to Fonterra on the divestment of its global Consumer (and associated) businesses for NZ$4.2bn  
  • Sole adviser to Spark on the sale of a 75% interest in Spark’s data centre business for NZ$705m
  • Sole lead manager and underwriter for Fletcher Building in connection with its NZ$700m equity raise 
  • Joint lead manager and underwriter for Auckland International Airport in connection with its NZ$1.4bn equity raise, the largest ever follow-on equity raising for an NZX listed company 
  • Joint lead manager for Westpac's NZ$375m issuance of perpetual preference shares 
  • Defence adviser to The Warehouse Group on the takeover approach from Adamantem Capital

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

You are in your penultimate year of study, working towards a relevant tertiary qualification, and have a track record of exceptional academic performance. You bring a genuine interest in business and finance and are curious about how financial markets work and how we support our clients to achieve their goals.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving ability, with the capacity to think critically and make considered recommendations
  • Strong time management skills and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
